Welcome to the II International Flute Congress of Bétera, for Víctor Gámez and myself, it is an honour to be able to organise this second International Flute Congress of Bétera, all possible thanks to the support of the Department of Culture and the Bétera Town Council and the invaluable collaboration of the Centro Artístico Musical de Bétera.
An event that aims to be a Valencian flautist reference for the whole country because it will bring together two exceptional flautists, as well as Valencian flautists who are references throughout Spain as soloists and teachers in some of the best orchestras and schools in the state. They are also professionals born in Bétera and all of them will form the group of flute teachers of the congress.
Sophie Cherrier is a great flute teacher, professor at the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris, and a renowned international soloist who, together with Kersten McCall, soloist of the prestigious Concertgebouw Orkest of Amstderdam, international soloist and professor at the Conservatoire d'Amsterdam.
Along with these two great international soloists we will have Juan Carlos Chornet soloist of the Granada orchestra and teacher at the Esmar school, Salvador Martínez soloist of the València orchestra and teacher at the Reina Sofía school, Marta Santamaría international piccolo soloist and member of the Orquesta Nacional de España.
María de Carmen Fuentes, PhD from the University of Aveiro (Portugal), a specialist in flutes and 19th century repertoire, will give us an exhibition of instruments and her research in this field.
We will have Oscar de Manuel as a specialist in flamenco music, Music Awards 2022 and renowned international flamenco soloist.
From Bétera we will have two great flute players, naixcuts in Bétera. From the organization of the Congress we continue to promote local talents from the Centro Artístico Musical de Bétera Samuel Muñoz, specialist in the Resonanz technique and Eduard Sánchez, professor at the Conservatory of Barcelona and international soloist.
For the youngest flautists we will have a special team formed by the teachers of the CAM of Bétera Pilar del Campo, Neus Sanmartín and Laura Navarro. All of them do a magnificent pedagogical and concert work and this congress will be a meeting point for all children to enjoy and learn from these exceptional guest teachers at the Bétera International Flute Congress.
The guest teachers will take part in workshops, conferences and activities organised throughout the weekend which will be aimed at both students and professionals of the flute, as well as the youngest flautists. There will also be exhibitions of the main flute brands organised by various shops.
There will be a Saturday concert with soloists Sophie Cherrier and Kersten MacCall who will perform some of the most emblematic pieces of the flautist repertoire and on Sunday, to close the Congress, we will have a concert with teachers and students with some surprises for both public and students to enjoy a great final concert.
An exceptional event that is already a Valencian and Spanish flautist reference and that places Bétera within the European panorama of flute congresses. An international congress made possible thanks to the support and help of the Bétera Town Council, the Department of Culture and the invaluable collaboration of the Centro Artístico Musical de Bétera.
